What fexofenadine is for
Fexofenadine is an antihistamine. It blocks histamine, the chemical the body releases when it meets something it treats as a threat — pollen, house dust, a pet's fur — and that release is what brings on sneezing, a runny nose, itchy watering eyes and an itchy nose or throat. Fexofenadine calms those symptoms without the heavy drowsiness older antihistamines are known for, so it suits people who need to stay sharp during the day. It also eases the itch and redness of hives (urticaria — raised, itchy welts on the skin), and it is used for reactions to insect bites and stings. Side effects
Most people notice very little. Headache, tiredness or sleepiness, indigestion and nausea are the ones that come up, and they usually settle as your body gets used to the medicine. Antacids and storage
