Seroflo Inhaler combines salmeterol with fluticasone propionate in a pressurised inhaler for asthma and COPD maintenance, in 25/125mcg and 25/250mcg strengths and packs of 1, 3 or 6.
Fluticasone belongs to the corticosteroid family. It damps down swelling and irritation where it is applied, which is why the same ingredient turns up in nasal sprays for a blocked, runny or itchy nose and in inhalers for asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, long-term damage to the airways that makes breathing hard). Inhaled fluticasone prevents wheeze, chest tightness and coughing. It is a preventer, so it will not stop an attack that has already begun. It is therefore taken on a schedule rather than when symptoms flare, and the benefit builds slowly: breathing may feel easier within a day, but the full effect can take two weeks or longer.
Two sprays are listed. Flonase Nasal Spray is fluticasone alone at 50mcg per spray, used once a day in each nostril for seasonal allergies and perennial rhinitis (a nose that stays blocked or runny all year). Dymista adds azelastine, an antihistamine, in a 50/140mcg spray for seasonal allergic rhinitis. Nosebleeds, a dry or stinging nose, headache and sore throat are the usual annoyances.
Most inhalers in this range add salmeterol, a bronchodilator that relaxes the muscle around the airways and holds them open for around 12 hours. Advair Diskus comes in three strength pairs — 100/50, 250/50 and 500/50, fluticasone first and salmeterol second, both in micrograms; Advair Rotahaler uses capsules; Fluticasone + Salmeterol arrives as inhalers in 250/50 and 500/50; Seroflo Inhaler comes in 25/125 and 25/250. Asthma and COPD are what these are bought for, and they are taken at the same times each day.
Fluticasone Propionate is the exception: fluticasone on its own as rotacaps, capsules loaded into a Rotahaler and breathed in to prevent asthma symptoms. It suits someone who needs the steroid without a second ingredient.
Thrush in the mouth or throat and a hoarse voice are the classic problems with inhaled steroids; rinsing your mouth with water and spitting it out after each dose cuts the risk. Headache and throat irritation are common too, and nasal sprays can cause nosebleeds. Anything that looks like an allergic reaction — swelling of the face or lips, a rash, tight breathing — needs urgent help. In COPD, inhaled corticosteroids are linked to a higher chance of pneumonia, and long-term use at higher doses can thin the bones.

Cutivate, Flonase and Flovent are brand names of fluticasone, which is also sold as Flixonase, Flixotide, Flomist and Flutivate. Here, fluticasone can be bought online as generic Flonase Nasal Spray. These are generics, not the original brand.
A nasal spray usually settles the nose after a few days of regular use. An inhaled fluticasone product can ease breathing within 24 hours, but its full effect takes two weeks or more. Symptoms often come back if you stop early, so keep to the schedule.
Dymista has a second ingredient. Both sprays contain fluticasone, Flonase at 50mcg per spray on its own, Dymista at 50/140mcg together with azelastine, an antihistamine, and Dymista is listed for seasonal allergic rhinitis.

No. These inhalers prevent attacks rather than stop one that has started, so a fast-acting reliever is the one to reach for when breathing suddenly worsens. Once the attack has settled, go back to the fluticasone inhaler on its usual schedule.
