A clot can cause sudden breathlessness, chest pain or a swollen, painful leg, and needs urgent treatment. Serious but uncommon effects include severe migraine, vision changes, and yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice). Some medicines lower progesterone levels: rifampicin and rifabutin (for TB), carbamazepine and phenytoin (for epilepsy), and St John's wort. Progesterone adds to the sedative effect of sleeping tablets, anxiety medicines and some painkillers. Keep capsules in their original pack, away from warmth and damp.
