Vilazodone for major depressive disorder
Vilazodone is an antidepressant sold as Viibryd tablets. It is a serotonin modulator: it slows the reuptake of serotonin, a brain chemical involved in mood, and also acts at the 5-HT1A receptor. It is used to treat major depressive disorder. Symptoms ease rather than disappear for good, and the full benefit usually takes several weeks to appear. Do not stop abruptly. Withdrawal symptoms can include dizziness, nausea, headache, confusion, irritability, anxiety, tiredness, tingling in the hands or feet, sweating and seizures. A gradual reduction lowers the chance of these effects.
