FAQ

Which Bimatoprost 0.03% pack sizes can I order?

Bimatoprost 0.03% comes as 3ml bottles. Pack sizes are 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 bottles. Larger packs cost less per bottle.

How is Bimatoprost 0.03% delivered to Hong Kong?

Generic bimatoprost bottles can go by tracked courier in 5 to 9 business days with online tracking, or standard airmail in 14 to 21 business days, up to 30, untracked. A parcel that does not arrive is sent again free, or refunded if not possible.

What are the other names for bimatoprost?

Brand names for bimatoprost include Lumigan and Latisse. Bimatoprost bottles are a pure generic bimatoprost product and are not any of those brands. Here, bimatoprost can also be bought online as Careprost, generic Lumigan and Bimat with Applicators.

How long does Bimatoprost 0.03% take to work?

The drop begins lowering the pressure from the first doses, but steady control builds over the first weeks of daily evening use. Because high eye pressure cannot be felt, the result shows up at a routine eye test rather than in how your eyes feel — the reading is what tells you it is working.

Why is Bimatoprost used at night?

One evening drop covers roughly the whole day, so there is nothing to gain from adding a second dose later on. Keeping to about the same time each night holds the level steady in the eye, and any brief blur after the drop matters less when you are asleep.

Can Bimatoprost darken my eyes or eyelashes?

Yes. Lashes usually become longer, thicker and darker, and the eyelid skin above them can darken as well; those changes generally reverse once the drops are stopped. Brown pigment spreading through the iris — the coloured part of the eye — is the one change that tends to stay.

What is the difference between Bimatoprost 0.03% and Lumigan?

Nothing inside the bottle differs: both are bimatoprost 0.03% in a 3ml dropper bottle, used the same way for glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The brand name is the difference. There is also a Lumigan with Applicators version, which comes with an applicator rather than just the bottle.

What does the 0.03% strength mean?

It is the concentration of bimatoprost in the liquid — how much of the medicine is dissolved in each millilitre. Every bimatoprost eye drop sold here is made up at that same figure, so a 3ml bottle holds the same amount of active ingredient whichever brand name is printed on it.

About Bimatoprost 0.03%

What this eye drop treats

Bimatoprost 0.03% is used when the pressure inside the eye is too high: in open-angle glaucoma, and in ocular hypertension, where the pressure runs high but no damage to the optic nerve can be seen yet. Years of pressure that high harm the nerve fibres carrying sight, and what is lost this way does not come back. The drop works on the eye's outflow, helping the watery fluid inside the eye drain away more freely so the pressure comes down.

How to use the bottle

The dose is a single drop in the evening, and that is all for the day. Treat both eyes only if both need it.

To put it in, tip your head back and pull down the lower lid. Let the drop fall into the gap without letting the nozzle brush your lashes. Shut the eye, press a finger on the corner by your nose for a minute, and blot any spill from the cheek.

Soft contact lenses stay out while you do this and can go back in fifteen minutes later. A second eye medicine goes in after a five-minute wait. When you are done, cap the bottle and put it in the shade.

What you may notice, and rare problems

Redness in the white of the eye, itching, a scratchy or dry feeling and a brief blur after each drop are the usual ones, and they often settle as the weeks go by. Two cosmetic changes are well known with bimatoprost: lashes that grow darker, longer and thicker, and eyelid skin that deepens in colour. Both generally go back to normal when the drops are stopped. A brown tint spreading into the iris (the coloured ring around the pupil) is different — it usually stays. Rarely, inflammation develops inside the eye, or fluid collects in the macula, the central part of the retina.

The other bimatoprost bottles

Careprost and Lumigan hold the same medicine at 0.03% in the same 3ml bottle; the brand name is what changes. Careprost with Applicators and Bimat with Applicators come with an applicator and are also sold for sparse eyelashes. This plain bottle, without one, is the version sold for glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The bimatoprost page covers the whole range.
