FAQ
What Clindamycin strengths and pack sizes are available?
The capsules come in 150mg and 300mg strengths. Available packs range from 30 to 360 capsules for 150mg, and 30 to 240 for 300mg. The supply is generic clindamycin; larger packs cost less per capsule.
Which payment methods can I use for Clindamycin?
Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted on an encrypted payment page, and the card number never reaches PockDose's own servers. Bitcoin and Ethereum are accepted too. The capsules arrive in a plain parcel with nothing on the outside to show what is inside.
What is another name for clindamycin?
Brand names for clindamycin include Cleocin, Clindac, Dalacin, Zindaclin and Clindagel. Clindamycin capsules are a pure generic clindamycin product and are not any of those brands.
What infections does clindamycin treat?
Clindamycin is used for bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissue, the lungs, the blood, the female reproductive organs and internal organs. It only works against bacteria that are sensitive to it, so it is matched to the infection rather than taken for any illness.
Can I drink alcohol while taking clindamycin?
Alcohol does not react with clindamycin the way it does with some other antibiotics, but it can add to nausea and stomach upset, which are already the most common side effects. Keeping drinking light while the course lasts makes the treatment easier to tolerate.
Why is diarrhoea after clindamycin taken seriously?
Clindamycin can let C. difficile bacteria overgrow in the bowel and cause colitis. Mild loose stools are common, but watery or bloody diarrhoea with cramps or fever, even weeks after the last capsule, is the sign of this complication.
What is the difference between clindamycin 150mg and 300mg?
The 300mg capsule holds twice the amount of clindamycin. Larger daily amounts are used for more serious infections, so the strength depends on the infection being treated; two 150mg capsules contain the same amount as one 300mg capsule.
About Clindamycin
Clindamycin capsules, 150mg and 300mg
Clindamycin is an antibiotic from the lincosamide family. It is used for infections caused by bacteria, including infections of the skin, the lungs, the blood, the female reproductive organs and internal organs. PockDose sells it as generic capsules in two strengths, 150mg and 300mg, in packs that start at 30 capsules.
It works by stopping bacteria from building the proteins they need to grow and multiply, which lets the body's defences clear the infection. Because it acts on bacteria only, it does nothing for colds, flu or other viral illnesses, and taking it for them only gives resistant bacteria a chance to spread.
How the capsules are taken
Each capsule is swallowed whole with a full glass of water, and you should stay upright for at least 30 minutes afterwards so it does not lodge in the gullet and irritate it. Doses are spread evenly through the day. Keep going until the course is finished, even once you feel better: stopping early can leave behind bacteria that are harder to treat next time.
Store the capsules at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.
Side effects to know about
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, a metallic taste and mild diarrhoea are the usual complaints. One effect stands out with clindamycin: it can upset the normal bacteria in the bowel so much that a germ called C. difficile takes over and causes colitis, an inflamed large bowel. Severe or watery diarrhoea, blood in the stool, stomach cramps or fever, either during treatment or up to two months after it, needs prompt treatment and should not be settled with anti-diarrhoea medicines.
Allergic reactions are uncommon but serious. Difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or a rash that blisters or peels need urgent help.
The clindamycin page explains the ingredient and where it fits among antibiotics.
