What you will receive
Crestor is the originator brand name, made by AstraZeneca. We use it to identify the medicine; the pack you receive is a generic equivalent, not the original Crestor.
- The same active ingredient (Rosuvastatin) at the same strength.
- The exact brand supplied depends on what is in stock when your order ships.
FAQ
Which Crestor strengths and pack sizes can I order?
There are three strengths, each with its own pack range: 5mg from 30 up to 360 tablets, 10mg from 10 to 180, and 20mg from 30 to 120. The tablets are generic rosuvastatin rather than the original Crestor, and a bigger pack brings the price per tablet down.
How is generic rosuvastatin delivered to Hong Kong for a long course?
Your generic rosuvastatin can go by tracked courier, taking 5 to 9 business days with online tracking. Standard airmail takes 14 to 21 business days, or 30 at most, and is untracked. Every order ships in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing outside about the contents.
What other names is rosuvastatin sold under?
Crestor is a brand name of rosuvastatin, which is also sold as Rosulip and Rosuvas. Here, rosuvastatin can be bought online as generic Crestor. These are generics, not the original brand.
How long does Crestor take to work?
The first drop in cholesterol shows up within a few weeks of daily tablets, though it keeps improving after that and the strength may be adjusted. Only a blood test shows it, because you will not feel any difference.
Is Crestor the same as rosuvastatin?
Crestor is a brand name; rosuvastatin is the statin inside it. What ships here is generic rosuvastatin in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg strengths rather than packs of the original brand.
Can I take Crestor at night?
Yes, any time of day works, because rosuvastatin does not depend on a meal or the clock. Pick the hour you will reliably keep, such as at bedtime, and stick with it.
About Crestor
Lowering cholesterol that diet alone has not shifted
Rosuvastatin is the active ingredient in these tablets. It brings down cholesterol and lowers the risk of a heart attack or stroke. Cholesterol is a fat-like substance that settles on the walls of arteries and narrows them; statins such as rosuvastatin work by slowing how much the liver makes, so less of it circulates in the blood. Diet and exercise still matter — the tablets add to that work rather than replace it. Rosuvastatin is not used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Starting rosuvastatin: what to expect
You will not feel the tablets working. High cholesterol has no symptoms, so a blood test a few weeks in is the real measure. The strength is often stepped up, never more often than every 2 to 4 weeks, until the numbers are where they should be. Daily use is the whole point: one tablet at a time of day you will remember, with food or without, swallowed whole. Stopping lets cholesterol drift back up, so most people stay on it for the long term.
Side effects worth knowing
Headache, stomach pain, constipation, dizziness, joint aches, poor sleep and forgetfulness are the ones people notice most, and they usually ease. Low mood and confusion are reported too. Serious muscle damage is rare but is the effect to watch for: pain, tenderness or weakness in the muscles, especially with fever, dark urine or heavy tiredness, needs urgent treatment. Yellowing of the skin or eyes, pain under the ribs on the right, unusual bruising or bleeding and flu-like symptoms are signs of liver trouble. A rash with swelling of the face or throat, or trouble breathing or swallowing, is an emergency.
Mixing it with other medicines
Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium hydroxide can stop rosuvastatin being absorbed properly if they are taken together, so leave at least 2 hours between the antacid and your tablet. Gemfibrozil, a fibrate used for high triglycerides, is not taken with rosuvastatin because the two together make muscle problems more likely.
