Cytotec
Cytotec is misoprostol in 100mcg and 200mcg tablets, in packs of 10 to 360, taken to prevent the stomach ulcers that long-term pain medicines such as aspirin can cause.

FAQ
Which strengths and pack sizes of generic Cytotec can I order?
Generic Cytotec comes as 100mcg and 200mcg tablets. Packs range from 10 to 360 tablets depending on strength. The pack contains generic misoprostol, not the original Cytotec. Larger packs cost less per tablet.
How is generic Cytotec delivered to Hong Kong?
Generic Cytotec can go by tracked courier in 5 to 9 business days with online tracking, or by standard airmail in 14 to 21 business days, up to 30, untracked. Very large orders over 120 units may be split into several parcels.
Can I take Cytotec with ibuprofen?
That is the whole point of it. Misoprostol is taken with NSAID painkillers such as ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin and diclofenac so that the painkiller does not wear the stomach lining down. It is continued for as long as the painkiller is needed, and it does not ease pain itself.
What is the difference between Cytotec 100mcg and 200mcg?
The 200mcg tablet has twice as much misoprostol as the 100mcg one. If one tablet at the higher strength is too much, 100mcg tablets let you take less. Both are swallowed with meals and at bedtime.
Does Cytotec cause diarrhoea?
Yes, loose stools are the commonest side effect, sometimes with cramps, wind or nausea, and they are most likely in the first couple of weeks. A tablet swallowed with food sits more gently, and a lower daily total is easier on the gut, which is where 100mcg tablets come in.
How long do people take Cytotec for?
It follows the painkiller. Daily arthritis treatment can mean months of misoprostol alongside it, while a short course of an anti-inflammatory ends when the course does. The four-times-a-day pattern stays the same for the whole stretch.
About Cytotec
What Cytotec is used for
Cytotec is misoprostol, sold here as 100mcg and 200mcg tablets, and its job is to protect the stomach of anyone taking an anti-inflammatory painkiller (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac and similar) for arthritis or long-term pain. Those painkillers wear down the stomach's own defences, and after months of daily use the lining can turn sore or ulcerated. Misoprostol makes up the shortfall: the stomach produces less acid and the lining makes more of the mucus that shields it. The painkiller carries on working as before.
Taking Cytotec tablets
The routine is four tablets a day, one with each of three meals and one at bedtime. Eating alongside takes the edge off the cramps and loose stools misoprostol can cause. The medicine does not stay in the body long, which is why the doses are spread out instead of taken together. Swallow the tablets whole. The 200mcg and 100mcg tablets follow the same pattern; the 200mcg one simply holds more.
Keep the tablets in the pack they came in, out of sunlight, because heat and damp break misoprostol down.
Side effects worth knowing about
Loose stools are the effect people mention most, and they follow the dose: a smaller daily total usually means a calmer stomach. Cramps, nausea, wind, headache, indigestion, constipation and vomiting can also occur, and many of them ease once the body gets used to the tablets. Bleeding from the stomach or gut is uncommon but serious — vomit containing blood, or black tarry stools, needs urgent treatment.
Cytotec and pregnancy
Misoprostol must not be taken during pregnancy. It makes the womb contract, which can end a pregnancy, start labour early and cause birth defects. Where it is used in women who could conceive, a pregnancy test comes first and treatment begins at the start of a period; if pregnancy happens during treatment, the tablets are stopped.
Cytotec or misoprostol?
Cytotec is the brand name that misoprostol became known by; the two words describe one medicine. The tablets sold here are generic misoprostol, in the same 100mcg and 200mcg strengths. What differs is the name on the box, not the active ingredient.
