What you will receive

Eliquis is the originator brand name, made by Pfizer. We use it to identify the medicine; the pack you receive is a generic equivalent, not the original Eliquis.

  • The same active ingredient (Apixaban) at the same strength.
  • The exact brand supplied depends on what is in stock when your order ships.

FAQ

Which Eliquis strengths and pack sizes can I order?

Eliquis tablets are available as generic apixaban in 2.5mg and 5mg. The 2.5mg packs range from 30 to 90 tablets, while 5mg packs range from 10 to 90 tablets. The pack contains generic apixaban, not the original Eliquis. Larger packs cost less per tablet.

How do I pay for Eliquis and get it delivered to Hong Kong?

You can pay for Eliquis by Visa, Mastercard or American Express on a secure, encrypted payment page, or by Bitcoin or Ethereum. Card details never reach the shop's servers. Tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days with online tracking.

Does Eliquis have other names?

Eliquis is a brand name of apixaban, which is also sold as Apigat. Here, apixaban can be bought online as generic Eliquis. These are generics, not the original brand.

Why is Eliquis taken twice a day?

Apixaban is cleared from the body fairly quickly, so a single daily tablet would let the protection fade between doses. Two doses about 12 hours apart keep a steady amount in the blood. Pairing each tablet with breakfast and the evening meal makes the routine easier to remember.

Can Eliquis tablets be crushed or mixed with a drink?

Yes. If swallowing a whole tablet is awkward, crush it and stir it into water, apple juice or applesauce, then swallow the mixture straight away instead of leaving it to stand. Crushing does not change how well apixaban works, so the dose stays the same.

Can I take ibuprofen or aspirin with Eliquis?

Both make bleeding more likely on top of apixaban, because they affect platelets as well as the clotting chain. Paracetamol does not affect clotting and is the usual choice for everyday aches. Low-dose aspirin is sometimes taken with a blood thinner on purpose for heart reasons.

What happens if I stop taking Eliquis?

The protection wears off within about a day of the last tablet, and the risk of clots and stroke goes back to where it was before treatment. A gap in supply is therefore a bigger problem with apixaban than with most medicines, so order the next pack before the current one runs out.

How does Eliquis differ from warfarin?

Warfarin works against vitamin K, which is why leafy greens can shift its effect and why it needs regular INR blood tests. Apixaban targets factor Xa directly, is taken twice daily and has no routine clotting checks. Both are used to lower stroke risk in atrial fibrillation.

About Eliquis

Why people take Eliquis

Most people who reach for Eliquis have atrial fibrillation, an irregular and often fast heartbeat. Blood can linger in the upper chambers of the heart and clot there, and a clot that travels to the brain causes a stroke. Apixaban cuts that risk. The same tablets treat clots in the leg and lung and stop them returning, and they are used for a few weeks after a hip or knee replacement to prevent clots while you recover. Protection lasts only as long as you keep taking them.

How apixaban works

Clotting runs along a chain of reactions, and one of the final links is a protein called factor Xa. Apixaban, the active ingredient in these tablets, blocks that protein, so the chain stalls and blood takes longer to thicken. The body clears it fairly quickly — about half has gone within half a day — which is why the tablets are taken twice daily, morning and evening about 12 hours apart. Food makes no difference to how well it is absorbed. If swallowing is awkward, a tablet can be crushed and stirred into water, apple juice or applesauce, then swallowed straight away.

Bleeding, and what to look out for

Slower clotting shows up first as bruises from small knocks, nosebleeds, bleeding gums and heavier periods. Bleeding that will not stop — black tarry stools, blood in the urine, vomited blood, a nosebleed that keeps going — needs urgent treatment.

What else mixes in

Everyday painkillers matter. Ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin all make bleeding more likely, while paracetamol does not affect clotting in the same way. Other blood thinners, including clopidogrel, warfarin and heparin, stack with apixaban. Some antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), a few epilepsy medicines (carbamazepine, phenytoin) and St John's wort change how much apixaban stays in the body.

The 2.5mg and 5mg tablets

Both strengths come as plain apixaban tablets taken twice a day. The 2.5mg strength is the one used after hip or knee replacement surgery and for longer-term clot prevention; 5mg is the strength used for atrial fibrillation. Keep the blister strips or the bottle somewhere cool and dry, out of sunlight.
