What you will receive

FAQ
Which Floxin strengths and pack sizes are available?
Floxin pages list 100mg, 200mg and 400mg tablets. Packs run from 10 up to 360 for 100mg and 200mg, and from 10 up to 180 for 400mg. It is generic ofloxacin, not the original Floxin. Larger packs cost less per tablet.
Can I pay for Floxin by card or Bitcoin?
Yes. Visa, Mastercard and American Express go through an encrypted payment page, and card details never reach PockDose's servers; Bitcoin and Ethereum are accepted too. The parcel to Hong Kong is plain, with no branding.
What other names is ofloxacin sold under?
Floxin and Ocuflox are brand names of ofloxacin, which is also sold as Exocin, Oflox, Tarivid and Oflocet. Here, ofloxacin can be bought online as generic Floxin, and also as generic Ocuflox. These are generics, not the original brand.
What happens if I miss a dose of Floxin?
A missed tablet can still be taken if the next dose is a few hours away. When the next one is close, skip the missed tablet and carry on with the usual schedule, because two tablets together do not make up for it. Spacing doses evenly, about 12 hours apart on a twice-daily course, helps.
Is Floxin the same medicine as Ocuflox?
Both contain ofloxacin, but they are different products. Floxin is a tablet you swallow for infections inside the body. Ocuflox is an eye drop (0.3%) for bacterial conjunctivitis, the red, sticky eye, and does nothing for a chest or urine infection.
How quickly does Floxin work?
Two or three days is typical before you feel a difference, though the bacteria can still be present then. Treatment length depends on the infection: one tablet may be enough for a simple genital infection, while chest, urinary and prostate infections usually run a week or longer.
Does Floxin help with a cold or flu?
No. A cold, flu or most sore throats are caused by viruses, and Floxin has no effect on a virus. It is for bacterial infections of the chest, urinary tract, prostate and skin. Taking it for a viral illness cannot help and can still bring side effects.
About Floxin
What Floxin tablets treat
Floxin is a brand of ofloxacin, one of the fluoroquinolone antibiotics. Its target is bacteria; viruses and fungi are untouched by it. The drug jams two enzymes a bacterium relies on to copy and repair its genetic material, so the germs cannot multiply and the infection fades as the body clears them.
The tablets are used for bacterial chest infections, pneumonia and bronchitis among them, for infections of the urinary tract, prostate and genital area, and for infected skin and the soft tissue beneath it.
Taking a course
Three strengths — 100mg, 200mg and 400mg — let the dose be matched to the infection. Many adults take 200mg or 400mg twice a day, about 12 hours apart; an uncomplicated genital infection may need only one 400mg tablet. Swallow each dose with a full glass of water, at a mealtime or on an empty stomach.
Finish the strips even after you feel well again.
Side effects to watch for
A queasy stomach is common in the first days, along with loose stools, stomach cramps, headache, dizziness, disturbed sleep and a metallic taste. An itchy rash can appear too. These usually settle while the course continues.
The serious risk with ofloxacin is to the tendons, most often the Achilles tendon at the back of the heel. It is higher in older people and in anyone also taking a steroid medicine, and a tendon that hurts, swells or stiffens needs urgent treatment. Pins and needles, numbness or burning in the hands or feet, confusion, agitation and a racing, irregular heartbeat are also reasons to stop taking it.
What to keep apart from your dose
Antacids and sucralfate, and supplements or drinks rich in iron or zinc, cling to ofloxacin in the gut so that less of it reaches the blood. Leave two hours on either side of a dose. Ofloxacin also strengthens warfarin, can push theophylline levels higher, and adds to the seizure risk of NSAID painkillers such as ibuprofen. Blood sugar may rise or fall, which matters if you take insulin or diabetes tablets.
Strengths, packs and the drop form
Packs of 100mg and 200mg go from 10 tablets up to 360; the 400mg strength stops at 180. When the infection sits on the eye rather than inside the body, the same ingredient comes as Ocuflox, a 0.3% eye drop for bacterial conjunctivitis (red, sticky eyes).
