FAQ
What pack sizes does Fusiderm B come in?
Fusiderm B comes as a 2/0.12% tube in packs of 2 or 4. Larger packs cost less per tube.
How discreet is a Fusiderm B parcel to Hong Kong?
Every Fusiderm B order ships to Hong Kong in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing on the outside about the contents. Tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days with online tracking. Standard airmail takes 14 to 21 business days and is untracked.
What are the alternative names for Fusiderm B?
Fusiderm B is a branded generic of fusidic acid and betamethasone. The combination is also sold as Fucibet. Here, fusidic acid and betamethasone can be bought online as Fusiderm B. These are generics, not the original brand.
Is Fusiderm B the same as Betamethasone And Fusidic Acid?
Yes, they are the same product: generic fusidic acid and betamethasone cream, with the same strengths and packs. Both names are ordered on this Fusiderm B page.
Is Fusiderm B a steroid cream?
Partly. It contains betamethasone, a corticosteroid, alongside fusidic acid, which is an antibiotic and not a steroid. The betamethasone calms the inflammation and itch, and the fusidic acid deals with the bacteria, which is why one tube is used for skin that is both inflamed and infected.
Can I use Fusiderm B on my face?
Facial skin is thin and absorbs steroid easily, so a betamethasone product is kept to the shortest spell possible there and away from the eyes. Longer use can thin the skin, show up small blood vessels and bring on rosacea-like spots or a rash around the mouth.
Will Fusiderm B work on ringworm or athlete's foot?
No. Those are fungal infections, and fusidic acid kills bacteria, not fungus. The steroid in the tube can also let a fungal rash spread and look different. An antifungal cream is the right tool for ringworm and athlete's foot.
Can I cover Fusiderm B with a bandage?
Not with an airtight dressing. Covering the skin pushes much more betamethasone into the body, which raises the chance of skin thinning and other steroid effects. Leave the patch uncovered, or under loose clothing, and keep the layer thin.
About Fusiderm B
Skin that is red, itchy or weeping and also infected has two problems that feed each other, and Fusiderm B treats both at once. Each tube holds 2% fusidic acid, an antibiotic that stops staphylococcus bacteria building the proteins they need to grow, together with 0.12% betamethasone, a corticosteroid that settles redness, swelling and itch. It is used on conditions such as infected eczema and dermatitis, where bacteria move in on skin that is already inflamed. Weeping, crusting or oozing patches on top of the rash are the usual sign that germs have taken hold.
Putting it on
A thin layer on the affected patch, rubbed in gently, is all it takes. Wash your hands afterwards and keep the tube away from your eyes.
This is a short-course medicine. Used for long stretches or over large areas, the steroid thins the skin, leaves stretch marks and changes its colour, and repeated courses of fusidic acid make bacteria more likely to resist it. Stop once the skin has calmed down. Stinging, burning or dryness where it goes on is the usual complaint; spreading redness, a worsening rash or swelling points to an allergy to something in the tube, and it should be stopped.
Skin problems it does not suit
Betamethasone can make some conditions worse, because the steroid lets the underlying cause spread. Acne, rosacea, cold sores, chickenpox and fungal infections such as ringworm and athlete's foot are the main ones. The fusidic acid half only acts on bacteria, so it does nothing for any of them.
Fusiderm B and its ingredient names
The same 2/0.12% combination is also sold under its ingredient names, Betamethasone And Fusidic Acid, in the same tubes: one product, two names. The fusidic acid page explains the antibiotic and the combination. Store the tube at room temperature, away from heat.
