FAQ
What strength and pack sizes of Lomexin can I order?
Lomexin suppositories come in 600mg strength. Pack sizes are 5, 10 or 20 suppositories. Larger packs cost less per suppository.
What arrives when I order Lomexin suppositories?
You choose the shipping: tracked courier in 5 to 9 business days, followed online, or standard airmail in 14 to 21 business days (30 at the most), which has no tracking.
How long does Lomexin 600 take to work?
By the third day the itching has usually eased, although the area can stay sore a little longer. For thrush to clear completely, allow one to two weeks.
Does my partner need to be treated if I use Lomexin?
Not unless they have symptoms of their own. Thrush is not classed as a sexually transmitted infection, although sex can trigger it. A partner with itching, redness or a rash under the foreskin would use an antifungal cream, since the suppository is for the vagina.
Is Lomexin the same as Canesten?
No. Lomexin contains fenticonazole, while Canesten is the brand name for clotrimazole. Both are imidazole antifungals that treat vaginal thrush in a similar way, but they are different ingredients, with their own strengths and course lengths.
About Lomexin
Lomexin 600 for vaginal thrush
Itching, soreness and a thick white discharge that smells of little or nothing usually point to thrush, a yeast infection caused by a fungus called Candida. Lomexin 600 is a 600mg fenticonazole suppository made for exactly that. You insert it into the vagina, where it softens and releases the antifungal straight onto the infected skin instead of sending it round the body first.
Clotrimazole and miconazole are in the same imidazole family. All three work by damaging the outer membrane of the yeast cell.
Using the suppository
Use it at bedtime, because lying down keeps it in place while it melts. With clean hands and your knees drawn up, push it in as far as is comfortable. One 600mg suppository is the whole treatment, not a nightly course.
By morning some of it will have come out as a creamy discharge, so a panty liner is easier than a tampon. If you have sex before the thrush has cleared, remember that antifungal pessaries can damage latex condoms and diaphragms.
Side effects
The usual complaint is mild burning, itching or redness in the first hours after insertion, and it settles on its own. Allergy to fenticonazole is rare; a spreading rash, swelling of the face or lips, or trouble breathing needs urgent treatment. Symptoms that are still there after a couple of weeks, or that keep returning, may not be a plain yeast infection.
Strength and packs
Lomexin is listed in one strength, 600mg, as suppositories in packs of 5, 10 or 20. It is the only fenticonazole product in the shop. The fenticonazole page goes into the ingredient itself, including the skin creams sold in other countries.
