FAQ
Which Metronidazole strengths and pack sizes can I order?
You can order Metronidazole 200mg and 400mg tablets. Both strengths come in packs of 30 to 360 tablets. Larger packs cost less per tablet.
How discreet is Metronidazole delivery to Hong Kong?
Metronidazole ships in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing on the outside about the contents. Tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days with online tracking. Standard airmail takes 14 to 21 business days and is untracked.
What is another name for metronidazole?
Brand names for metronidazole include Flagyl, MetroCream, Metrogyl, Noritate and Rozex. Metronidazole tablets are a pure generic metronidazole product and are not any of those brands. Here, metronidazole can also be bought online as generic Flagyl.
How long does metronidazole take to work?
Improvement often starts within a day or two, and the infection itself takes several days to clear. How quickly you notice a difference depends on what is being treated — a gum infection and bacterial vaginosis do not follow the same timeline.
What is the difference between metronidazole 200mg and 400mg?
They are the same medicine in different amounts. The strength sets how many tablets a dose needs, so a 400mg tablet suits courses taken twice a day, while 200mg tablets suit smaller doses taken more often, as in some parasitic infections.
Why does metronidazole leave a metallic taste?
The taste comes from the medicine itself, not from anything you ate, and it is one of the most common effects of the tablets. It usually goes within a day or two of the last dose and is not a sign that the treatment is failing.
Can metronidazole treat a cold or flu?
No. A cold or flu is a viral illness, while metronidazole acts only on anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites, so the tablets do nothing for it however long they are taken.
About Metronidazole
What these tablets treat
Metronidazole is an antibiotic that also works against some single-celled parasites. It is active against bacteria that live where there is little or no oxygen — the anaerobes behind dental abscesses, infected gums, and infections in the abdomen and pelvis. Bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis and giardiasis are treated with it too. The tablets come in 200mg and 400mg strengths, in packs of 30 to 360. Once inside the body, metronidazole is taken up by those organisms and breaks up their DNA, which stops them multiplying and allows the infection to clear.
Taking the tablets
Metronidazole tablets go down with water. If they make you queasy, take them with food or a snack, which does not weaken the drug. Most people take two or three evenly spaced doses a day for five to seven days. Feeling better after a couple of days is not the end of treatment, because the infection can flare again when the tablets stop early. While you are on it, warfarin becomes stronger and bleeding more likely.
Alcohol is the one thing to leave alone. Mixed with metronidazole it can bring on flushing, a pounding headache, nausea, vomiting and a fast heartbeat. Wait at least 48 hours after the last tablet before drinking again.
Side effects
A metallic taste is the most common complaint, and nausea, dry mouth, headache and loose stools turn up too; these usually fade within days. Pins and needles or numbness in the fingers and toes is rare, and it builds up over weeks of treatment rather than days. A rash with swelling of the face, lips or throat is an uncommon reaction that needs emergency care.
Metronidazole or Flagyl?
Flagyl holds the same ingredient in the same 200mg and 400mg strengths. It is a brand name rather than a different medicine, sold in its own box. Order whichever name you searched for; the tablet inside is metronidazole either way.
