FAQ
Which Mirapex strengths and pack sizes can I order?
You can order Mirapex as tablets in 0.125mg, 0.25mg and 0.5mg packs of 30, 60, 90 or 180 tablets. The pack contains generic pramipexole, not the original Mirapex. Larger packs cost less per tablet.
How is Mirapex delivered to Hong Kong?
For Mirapex delivery to Hong Kong, support answers 24/7 in English and Cantonese by live chat. Pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express on a secure, encrypted payment page, or with Bitcoin or Ethereum. Card details never reach the shop's servers. Tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days with online tracking.
Does Mirapex have other names?
Mirapex and Sifrol are brand names of pramipexole. Here, pramipexole can be bought online as generic Mirapex. These are generics, not the original brand.
How long does pramipexole take to work for restless legs?
It works the same night it is taken: the tablet goes in two to three hours before you go to bed, covering the evening and the night ahead. Dose changes are spaced days apart, though, so the amount that finally settles your symptoms may take a few weeks to reach.
Can I drink alcohol with Mirapex?
Yes, but keep it modest. Alcohol piles on the drowsiness, dizziness and unsteadiness pramipexole can cause, and that is most noticeable in the early weeks or after a dose increase, when the body is still adjusting to the medicine.
Is Mirapex available as a long-acting tablet?
Pramipexole also comes as a once-daily extended-release tablet, which must be swallowed whole and is not used for restless legs syndrome. The Mirapex stocked here is the standard tablet, taken three times a day for Parkinson's disease and once in the evening for restless legs.
Does pramipexole make restless legs worse over time?
It can, in a pattern known as augmentation. After months of treatment the symptoms may begin earlier in the day — late afternoon or early evening — and feel stronger than they did before treatment began. Higher doses make it more likely, and it is a well-known effect of this medicine.
What strength of Mirapex do you start on?
Parkinson's disease usually begins at 0.125mg three times a day, and restless legs at 0.125mg once a day. From there the amount is raised in small steps until symptoms settle, which is where the three tablet strengths come in.
About Mirapex
Parkinson's and restless legs
Mirapex tablets are pramipexole, used for two quite different problems. In Parkinson's disease the brain loses the cells that make dopamine, so movement turns slow, stiff and unsteady. In restless legs syndrome the trouble is a crawling, pulling feeling in the legs that builds when you sit still in the evening and eases only when you move them. Either way the tablets control symptoms rather than cure anything, and most people stay on them long-term.
Why it helps
Pramipexole is a dopamine agonist. It binds to the receptors dopamine normally uses and switches them on, so it does the work of the dopamine the brain is short of.
Dosing, food and stopping
For Parkinson's disease the standard schedule is one tablet three times a day. For restless legs it is one tablet two or three hours before bed. The dose goes up in steps at least four to seven days apart, so settling on the right amount can take a few weeks. Food does not change how the tablet works, and a snack with it is an option if you feel queasy early on. Do not stop it abruptly: in Parkinson's a sudden stop can bring fever, confusion, rigid muscles and sweating, and restless legs can return worse than before.
What to watch for
Queasiness, dry mouth, constipation, sleepiness and dizziness are the usual complaints, with dizziness on standing most likely in the first days. A few rarer effects matter. Daytime sleep can arrive with no warning at all, even at the wheel or mid-sentence. New urges that feel out of character — betting, spending, eating, sex — are a known effect of this drug group and fade once it is stopped. Hallucinations occur too, mainly in older people with Parkinson's. Drugs that block dopamine, antipsychotics among them, blunt pramipexole's effect, and alcohol deepens the drowsiness.
Strengths and packs
The three strengths, 0.125mg, 0.25mg and 0.5mg, let the dose be raised in small steps instead of starting high. Packs run to 30, 60, 90 or 180 tablets, so you can try one pack first or order enough for steady use. Keep the tablets in their original packaging, away from heat and bright light.
