FAQ
What pack sizes does Testosterone Topical come in?
Testosterone Topical 1% sachets come in packs of 5, 15, 30 or 45. Larger packs cost less per sachet.
What arrives when Testosterone Topical is delivered to Hong Kong?
Your Testosterone Topical sachets arrive in plain, unbranded packaging, with nothing on the outside about the contents. Tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days with online tracking, and orders over 120 units may be split into several parcels. A damaged parcel is sent again free.
What are the other names for testosterone?
Brand names for testosterone include Androgel, Androderm, Axiron, Natesto and Testogel. Testosterone topical sachets are a pure generic testosterone product and are not any of those brands. Here, testosterone can also be bought online as generic Androgel.
How long does testosterone gel take to work?
Hormone levels in the blood begin rising within the first few days of daily use, but changes in energy, mood and sex drive usually build over several weeks. Blood tests taken during treatment show whether the dose is giving the right level for you.
Can I shower or swim after applying testosterone gel?
Leave a few hours between applying the gel and showering, swimming or soaking in a bath, so the skin has time to take the dose in. Washing the site too soon rinses part of it away. If you do shower early, carry on with your next sachet as normal rather than applying extra.
Can testosterone gel transfer to my partner or children?
Yes. Until the gel has been washed off, testosterone can pass to anyone who touches the application site. Cover the area with a shirt once the gel has dried, wash your hands after applying, and if a woman or child touches the site, wash their skin with soap and water.
Is Testosterone Topical the same as Androgel?
For use, yes: the same 1% testosterone gel, the same sachets, the same once-daily application. Only the name on the pack differs, with Androgel as the brand and Testosterone Topical as the ingredient's own name.
Can I use testosterone gel for bodybuilding or sport?
It is meant for men whose own testosterone production is low, not as a muscle-building product, and using it that way is outside its licensed purpose. Testosterone is also banned in competitive sport under anti-doping rules.
About Testosterone Topical
What the 1% sachets are for
Testosterone Topical is a gel containing 1% testosterone, sold in single-use sachets. It is rubbed into the skin once a day to treat testosterone deficiency in men — hypogonadism, where the testicles produce too little of the hormone. Men with low levels often describe persistent tiredness, low sex drive, loss of muscle and strength, low mood and thinning bones. Because the gel goes in through the skin, hormone levels stay fairly even from one day to the next.
Applying a sachet
Use one sachet a day, at about the same time each day; mornings suit most men. Squeeze the gel onto clean, dry, unbroken skin — for a 1% gel the shoulders and upper arms are the usual sites — and spread it thinly. Let it dry before you dress, then wash your hands with soap and water. Until it dries the gel is flammable, so keep it away from flames. Leave a few hours before showering or swimming, and keep it away from the genitals.
What to expect during treatment
The first weeks are quiet. Levels climb within days, but men usually say that energy and mood lift slowly, over several weeks, and sex drive can lag behind. A blood test is taken before treatment starts and again as it goes on, to read the testosterone level and the red blood cell count, since testosterone can thicken the blood. Prostate growth and worse sleep apnoea (breathing that keeps stopping during sleep) are the other two things the hormone can do.
Side effects and other medicines
Acne, itching or redness at the application site, headache, tender or swollen breasts, mood swings and scalp hair loss are the complaints men report most. Blood pressure can rise and ankles can swell; fluid retention matters most for men with heart, kidney or liver disease. A clot is uncommon but serious, and pain or swelling in one leg, sudden breathlessness or chest pain needs urgent treatment. Testosterone is not used by men who have had prostate or breast cancer. It can lower blood sugar, so diabetes medicines may need adjusting, it strengthens the effect of warfarin, and it adds to the fluid retention from corticosteroid tablets such as prednisolone.
Testosterone Topical or Androgel?
Both are testosterone 1% gel in sachets, applied once a day, so the routine is identical. Androgel is the named brand, while this one is sold under the ingredient's plain name. The testosterone page covers the ingredient itself.
