What you will receive
Trimox is the originator brand name, made by Bristol-Myers Squibb. We use it to identify the medicine; the pack you receive is a generic equivalent, not the original Trimox.

- The exact brand supplied depends on what is in stock when your order ships.
FAQ
Which Trimox strengths and pack sizes can I order?
Trimox capsules come as 250mg and 500mg. Packs hold 60 or 90 capsules for 250mg, and 20, 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 capsules for 500mg. This is generic amoxicillin, not the original Trimox. Larger packs cost less per capsule.
How is Trimox delivered to Hong Kong?
For a long course of Trimox, tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days with online tracking. Standard airmail takes 14 to 21 business days, up to 30, and is untracked. Every order ships in plain, unbranded packaging. If it arrives damaged, it is sent again free or refunded.
What other names is amoxicillin sold under?
Trimox and Amoxil are brand names of amoxicillin, which is also sold as Almox, Mox, Moxikind and Novamox. Here, amoxicillin can be bought online as generic Trimox, and also as Cenmox, generic Amoxil and amoxicillin tablets. These are generics, not the original brand.
How long does Trimox take to work?
Most people with a sore throat or chesty cough feel the first improvement two or three days into the capsules, though the course still has to be finished to clear the infection. Skin and urinary infections can be slower. If nothing has changed after several days, that infection may not respond to amoxicillin.
Can I drink alcohol with Trimox?
Alcohol does not stop amoxicillin working, so an occasional drink is unlikely to cause trouble. It can make the nausea and stomach upset that some people get on antibiotics worse, and when you are already feeling rough from the infection, a heavy night will not help.
What is the difference between Trimox, Amoxil and Cenmox?
All three are amoxicillin under different brand names. Trimox and Cenmox come as 250mg and 500mg capsules, while Amoxil capsules also come in 625mg and 1000mg. Amoxicillin tablets are another option at 250mg and 500mg. The strength and the form you want decide which one you pick.
Can Trimox treat a cold or flu?
No. Colds, flu and most sore throats are caused by viruses, and amoxicillin has no effect on them. Taking an antibiotic when it is not needed does not speed up recovery, and it encourages bacteria to become resistant so that the drug stops working when it is genuinely required.
About Trimox
Trimox capsules for bacterial infections
Trimox is amoxicillin, a penicillin antibiotic. It works by blocking the build-up of the bacterial cell wall, the outer shell that keeps a bacterium intact; without it, the cell falls apart. Chest infections, ear, nose and throat infections, urinary tract infections and some skin infections all respond to it, which is why it turns up so often as a first choice. Amoxicillin does nothing against colds, flu or other illnesses caused by viruses.
How to take amoxicillin
Swallow each capsule with a glass of water. Food does not change how well it is absorbed, so a meal before, with or after the capsule makes no difference. Most infections are treated with a dose two or three times a day, spaced across the day, for five to ten days; some need longer. Leave the capsules in their blister strip, somewhere dry and out of the sun, and finish the whole course. Symptoms often ease after two or three days, but stopping early lets the bacteria that survived multiply again, and the infection can come back.
Side effects to expect
Loose stools, nausea and an unsettled stomach are common in the first few days, and often ease as the course goes on. A mild rash can appear too. An allergic reaction that swells the face or throat, spreads a rash or makes breathing difficult needs urgent care, and so does severe diarrhoea containing blood, which can start during the course or in the weeks afterwards. Both are uncommon.
What amoxicillin interacts with
Warfarin is the one to watch: with amoxicillin on board its blood-thinning effect can strengthen, and bruises and bleeds come more easily. Methotrexate stays in the body longer, allopurinol (for gout) makes a rash more likely, and probenecid holds amoxicillin back in the blood by slowing how fast the kidneys remove it.
250mg or 500mg, and how Trimox compares
This listing is amoxicillin in 250mg and 500mg capsules. Alongside it are Amoxil capsules, which run from 250mg up to 1000mg, Cenmox in 250mg and 500mg capsules, and Amoxicillin tablets at 250mg and 500mg. Trimox is a brand name for amoxicillin, not a different medicine: the same active ingredient under another name. The amoxicillin page covers the whole range.
