FAQ

What pack sizes of Voveran Gel can I order?

Voveran Gel is a 1% diclofenac sodium gel in packs of 1 to 5 tubes, and you receive Voveran Gel. Larger packs cost less per tube.

How does Voveran Gel reach Hong Kong?

Voveran Gel arrives in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing on the outside about the contents. Tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days with online tracking; standard airmail takes 14 to 21 business days, 30 at most, and is untracked.

What other names is diclofenac sold under?

Voveran Gel is a branded generic of diclofenac, the ingredient in Cataflam, Voltaren and Voltarol. Diclofenac is also sold as Cambia, Dynapar, Solaraze and Motifene. Here, diclofenac can be bought online as Voveran Gel, and also as generic Voltaren and diclofenac tablets. These are generics, not the original brand.

What does the 1% on the tube mean?

It tells you how much diclofenac the gel holds: one part diclofenac sodium to a hundred parts of gel. That is the standard strength for a topical NSAID gel, and since each application is only a thin layer, a tube covers plenty of uses.

Can I use Voveran Gel and diclofenac tablets together?

No. Both contain diclofenac, so adding the gel to a tablet raises the total dose and with it the risk of stomach bleeding and kidney problems. If the gel alone is not enough, switching to tablets rather than stacking the two is the usual approach.

Can I cover the area with a bandage or heat pad after applying it?

Not over the gel. An airtight dressing or a heat pad on top pushes extra diclofenac through the skin. Give the gel a few minutes to dry, then leave the area uncovered or under loose clothing.

How long can I keep using Voveran Gel?

Sprains and pulled muscles usually need it for a week or two while the injury settles, and arthritis joints can need longer. A joint that is no better after two weeks of regular use is probably not one the gel will fix.

Can I use Voveran Gel on my neck, back or shoulder?

Yes, any sore muscle or joint within reach will do, including the neck, back, shoulder and hip. Spread a thin layer over the painful patch rather than a thick one, and keep it away from eyes, mouth and broken skin.

About Voveran Gel

A gel for strains, sprains and stiff joints

Voveran Gel is a 1% diclofenac gel in a tube, an anti-inflammatory (NSAID) that you rub on rather than swallow. Reach for it after a pulled muscle, a twisted ankle or a day of digging, or for the stiffness mild arthritis leaves in hands, knees and shoulders.

Injured tissue swells and aches because it releases prostaglandins, and diclofenac blocks the enzymes that make them. The gel soaks into the tissue beneath the skin, so the drug gathers at the sore spot and less of it travels through the body than from a tablet.

How to use the gel

Put a thin layer on the painful patch only and rub until it vanishes, three or four times through the day. The area sets the amount: a knee takes a longer line of gel than a knuckle.

Hands are washed afterwards unless they were the treated part. The gel stays off cuts, grazes, broken skin and eyes, and nothing airtight goes over it. Treated skin can react to strong sunlight, so keep it covered outdoors.

Side effects and what not to combine it with

The skin where you apply it can turn red, itch, sting or go dry and flaky; this is common and usually passes. A spreading rash, blisters, or a swollen face, lips or throat is an allergic reaction and needs urgent help.

Some diclofenac does reach the blood, so stacking the gel on oral ibuprofen, aspirin or other NSAIDs raises the chance of stomach bleeding. Anyone who has had an asthma attack or a bad reaction after those tablets should leave diclofenac gels alone.

Voveran Gel against Voltaren Gel and tablets

Two tubes, one medicine: Voltaren Gel is also 1% diclofenac, sold under a different brand name. A sore knee or shoulder is what the gel is for. When pain sits in several joints at once, diclofenac tablets (50mg and 100mg) cover more ground, and that page compares the forms.
