FAQ

Which Zincoheal strengths and pack sizes can I order?

Zincoheal comes as 50mg tablets in packs of 30, 60, 90 or 120. Larger packs cost less per tablet.

What happens if my Zincoheal parcel does not arrive in Hong Kong?

If a Zincoheal parcel does not arrive within the delivery window, or arrives damaged, it is sent again free; where that is not possible the order is refunded. Very large orders over 120 units may be split into several parcels.

Can I take Zincoheal with antibiotics?

Zinc reduces how much of a tetracycline or quinolone antibiotic the body absorbs — ciprofloxacin and doxycycline are the common examples. A zinc tablet and one of these antibiotics are usually taken several hours apart, so keep the two at different points in the day.

Should I take Zincoheal with food?

Either way works. Queasiness is more likely when zinc is taken on an empty stomach, so taking the tablet with a meal is the simple fix if that happens to you. A full glass of water helps it go down.

Is 50mg of zinc a lot?

It is more than most adults need from food each day. A tablet at this strength is meant to correct a shortage rather than to top up an already adequate diet, which is why it is usually taken for a set period rather than indefinitely.

Can I take Zincoheal with copper or iron tablets?

Zinc and copper compete for the same absorption, so a copper supplement is best taken at a different time of day from Zincoheal. High zinc intake over a long period can also pull iron and magnesium levels down, another reason not to keep the dose high for months.

About Zincoheal

What Zincoheal tablets contain

Zincoheal is sold by the pack: 30, 60, 90 or 120 tablets, each with 50mg of zinc. That mineral is needed in tiny amounts, but nothing substitutes for it. Immune defence, wound healing, growth, the breakdown of carbohydrate and the senses of taste and smell all depend on it.

Why people take it

A shortage of zinc is what Zincoheal is taken for. Signs include frequent infections, a poor appetite, hair loss, skin sores, wounds that heal slowly, trouble seeing in the dark, and a dulled sense of taste or smell; children who lack zinc grow slowly. Since zinc plays a part in repairing skin and tissue, a supplement often joins a routine for stubborn skin problems and slow-healing patches — which is why Zincoheal sits in the skin care section here.

Zinc also has a reputation for colds. Reviews of the evidence suggest that taken for five months or longer it may lower the chance of catching one, and that started within 24 hours of the first symptoms it may shorten a cold.

How to take Zincoheal

Swallow a tablet with water. Nausea is the complaint zinc causes most often, and taking the tablet with a meal makes it less likely. Keep the pack sealed and out of strong heat.

Side effects

Nausea and stomach upset are the effects people notice most, and a metallic taste in the mouth turns up too. Large doses can bring diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and vomiting, usually 3 to 10 hours after the tablet, and these ease off soon once the supplement is stopped. Taken at a high strength for months on end, zinc can leave the body short of copper.

Zinc and other medicines

Copper and zinc compete with each other, so copper supplements and zinc tablets pull in opposite directions if taken at the same time. Zinc also lowers the amount of a quinolone or tetracycline antibiotic the body absorbs, which is why those antibiotics are usually taken hours away from a zinc dose.
