FAQ
Which Ziprasidone strengths and pack sizes can I order?
Ziprasidone capsules come in 20mg, 40mg and 80mg. The 20mg and 40mg strengths come in packs of 30 up to 360 capsules, while 80mg packs run from 30 to 180. The price per capsule in Hong Kong dollars is shown on each page, and bigger packs lower it.
How discreet is the delivery of Ziprasidone to Hong Kong?
Every Ziprasidone order ships in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing on the outside about the contents. Orders over 120 units may be split into several parcels. Delivery takes 5 to 9 business days by tracked courier or 14 to 21 by standard airmail, with support available 24/7.
Which brand names does ziprasidone have?
Brand names for ziprasidone include Geodon and Zeldox. Ziprasidone capsules are a pure generic ziprasidone product and are not any of those brands.
Can I take ziprasidone without food?
No. Ziprasidone needs roughly 500 calories alongside it — a proper meal, not a slice of toast — because absorption drops sharply without food. On an empty stomach much of each capsule is wasted, so the dose may not work as it should.
How long does ziprasidone take to work?
A calmer, less agitated feeling often comes within days, and sleep may improve early. The changes in hallucinations, delusions or manic mood build up over one to several weeks. Steady improvement can continue for longer than that.
Can I drink alcohol with ziprasidone?
A drink or two can make you drowsier and less steady than you expect, since alcohol and ziprasidone are both sedating. The first days and any increase in strength are when it shows most.
Does ziprasidone cause weight gain?
It can, but less than with many antipsychotics. Any gain comes on slowly over months, so a tighter waistband is often the first sign.
Is ziprasidone the same as Geodon?
Yes, Geodon is ziprasidone under a brand name. The capsules here come in 20mg, 40mg and 80mg, and each dose goes with a meal, twice a day.
About Ziprasidone
What ziprasidone capsules treat
Ziprasidone is an atypical antipsychotic, a medicine that calms overactive signalling in the brain. Adults take it for schizophrenia, where it eases hallucinations, delusions and jumbled thinking. It also treats bipolar I disorder during manic or mixed episodes, the agitated, high phases of the illness. Capsules come in 20mg, 40mg and 80mg.
How it works
Ziprasidone blocks dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors and partly activates 5-HT1A receptors. The result is quieter signalling in the circuits behind psychosis (losing touch with reality) and mania, while the rest of the brain carries on normally. Agitation and poor sleep tend to improve first, and delusions, hallucinations or mania give way over several weeks.
Why every dose goes with a meal
Ziprasidone is poorly absorbed on an empty stomach. Taken with a meal of at least 500 calories, about twice as much of the dose reaches the bloodstream, so a capsule swallowed with a light snack may not do its job. Adults usually take one capsule twice a day, each with a meal, swallowed whole with water. A forgotten dose is not doubled; the next capsule goes with the next meal.
Side effects
Sleepiness, dizziness, nausea, constipation, a dry mouth and restlessness are common early on and often fade after a week or two. Weight gain is less of a problem than with some other antipsychotics, though it still happens. Two slow problems are worth knowing about: after months of treatment, some people develop tardive dyskinesia — lip smacking, or tongue and facial movements they cannot control — and ziprasidone can disturb the heart's electrical rhythm, which may show up as fainting or an irregular heartbeat. A rare reaction called neuroleptic malignant syndrome brings a high temperature, rigid muscles, confusion and sweating along with a racing, uneven pulse, and needs emergency care. A rare allergic reaction can make the face or throat swell; that is an emergency too.
Alcohol and other medicines
Alcohol and other sedating medicines add to the drowsiness and dizziness. Several drugs stretch the heart's electrical signal further when combined with ziprasidone, among them certain heart-rhythm medicines, antibiotics such as erythromycin and moxifloxacin, and some antifungals. Carbamazepine speeds ziprasidone's removal from the body, which can weaken its effect.
