FAQ
Which Cyclomune strengths and pack sizes can I order?
Cyclomune comes as bottles in 0.05% and 0.1%. Each strength is sold in packs of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 bottles. Larger packs cost less per bottle.
How are Cyclomune bottles delivered to Hong Kong?
Cyclomune bottles arrive by tracked courier, taking 5 to 9 business days with online tracking. Every order ships in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing outside about the contents. If a parcel does not arrive within the delivery window, or arrives damaged, it is sent again free.
What are the alternative names for Cyclomune and cyclosporine?
Cyclomune is a branded generic of cyclosporine, the ingredient in Sandimmune and Neoral. Cyclosporine is also sold as Ikervis, Restasis, Verkazia and Gengraf. Here, cyclosporine can be bought online as Cyclomune, and also as generic Neoral and cyclosporine capsules. These are generics, not the original brand.
How long does Cyclomune take to work?
Cyclomune works slowly. The inflammation it targets settles over weeks rather than hours, and many people notice a real difference only after a month or two of steady use — some take longer. It is not a lubricant, so it will not give the instant comfort that artificial tears do.
Can I use Cyclomune at the same time as artificial tears?
Yes. Lubricant drops and cyclosporine do different jobs, and using both is common: tears for comfort through the day, Cyclomune to settle the inflammation underneath. Leave a few minutes between the two so the second drop is not washed straight back out of the eye.
What is the difference between Cyclomune 0.05% and 0.1%?
They contain the same medicine at different concentrations. The 0.1% bottle holds twice as much cyclosporine in each millilitre as the 0.05%, and that is the whole difference between them — the strength is printed on the bottle.
Is Cyclomune the same as Restasis?
The active ingredient is the same: both are cyclosporine eye emulsions. What differs is the brand name on the bottle and the strengths available, with Cyclomune offered in 0.05% and 0.1%.
Can I drink alcohol while using Cyclomune?
Alcohol does not interfere with these drops. The medicine stays on the surface of the eye and only a tiny amount of cyclosporine reaches the bloodstream, so a drink now and then makes no difference to how the drops work.
About Cyclomune
Dry eyes that need more than a lubricant
Cyclomune is a cyclosporine eye drop for dry eye syndrome, also called keratoconjunctivitis sicca — dryness and inflammation of the surface of the eye. Lubricant drops add moisture; this works on the inflammation underneath, which keeps the tear glands from doing their job. Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressant, and on the eye surface that means it calms the immune reaction that leaves the eyes sore and gritty. That is why a week of drops can feel like nothing: the eyes hold a better film of their own tears only after the inflammation has eased, and for most people that takes weeks, for some a couple of months. Note the date you open each bottle, and keep it out of the sun.
How to use the drops
The usual routine is one drop in each eye twice a day, about 12 hours apart. The liquid is a milky emulsion rather than a clear solution, and it separates as the bottle stands, so turn it upside down a few times to mix it before each dose. Take contact lenses out first and leave them out for about 15 minutes afterwards. If you also use lubricant drops, leave a few minutes between the two. Blurring for a minute after the drop is normal.
Side effects worth knowing
Stinging or burning as the drop goes in is the most common complaint, and eyes can look red or feel watery or gritty at first; this tends to ease as you get used to the drops. Sudden loss of vision, severe eye pain or marked swelling around the eye are not expected effects and need urgent attention. Cyclomune is not used when the eye is infected.
Strengths, and other cyclosporine products
Cyclomune comes as bottles in 0.05% and 0.1% — the higher figure means more cyclosporine in each millilitre, and nothing else about the bottle changes. Cyclosporine is also sold as 25mg, 50mg and 100mg capsules, including Neoral, taken by mouth for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and to prevent rejection after an organ transplant; those treat the whole body and are a different treatment from an eye drop. The cyclosporine page covers the ingredient itself.
