FAQ

Which Dydrogesterone pack sizes can I order?

Dydrogesterone tablets come in 10mg. Pack sizes range from 10 to 60 tablets. Larger packs cost less per tablet.

Can I track my Dydrogesterone order to Hong Kong?

Yes. Tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days and includes online tracking. Standard airmail takes 14 to 21 business days, or 30 at most, and is untracked. If a parcel does not arrive within the delivery window, it is sent again free or refunded.

What are the other names for dydrogesterone?

Brand names for dydrogesterone include Duphaston, Dydroboon and Dydrogest. Dydrogesterone tablets are a pure generic dydrogesterone product and are not any of those brands. Here, dydrogesterone can also be bought online as generic Duphaston.

Can I drink alcohol while taking dydrogesterone?

There is no known interaction between dydrogesterone and alcohol, so a drink now and then is unlikely to matter. Heavy drinking can make headaches, dizziness and low mood worse, and those are already possible side effects of the tablets, so keep it moderate while you are on a course.

Is dydrogesterone a contraceptive?

No. Dydrogesterone is a progestogen, but it is not used to prevent pregnancy and it does not work as a contraceptive at the 10mg strength. If you do not want to conceive while taking it, you need a separate method of contraception.

How is dydrogesterone different from natural progesterone?

Dydrogesterone is a synthetic progestogen taken as a tablet, while natural progesterone is usually given as micronised capsules or a vaginal gel. Dydrogesterone is selective, so it works on the womb lining without the androgenic effects — acne, oily skin, hair growth — that some other progestogens can cause.

How long do you take dydrogesterone for?

That depends on what it is treating: cycle problems and endometriosis are usually treated over several months, while luteal support is taken only during the second half of each cycle. Length is decided when the course starts and is not the same for everyone.

What strength do dydrogesterone tablets come in?

Dydrogesterone tablets are 10mg, and Duphaston is the same strength. What changes between conditions is how many tablets a day you take rather than the size of the tablet, so the same pack can be used for period problems, endometriosis or luteal support.

About Dydrogesterone

What these tablets are used for

Dydrogesterone is a progestogen, which means it acts like the progesterone your body makes to build up and then shed the lining of the uterus (womb) each month. A 10mg tablet is used when that cycle goes wrong: endometriosis, where tissue similar to the womb lining grows outside the uterus; painful or irregular periods; premenstrual syndrome; and luteal support, the help given in the second half of the cycle during fertility treatment. It is also used in early pregnancy when bleeding threatens a miscarriage.

Taking dydrogesterone

The tablet is swallowed with water. The number a day runs from one to three, and the days it covers depend on what is being treated: some courses run every day, others follow the cycle, with set days on and then a break. Taking it with food helps if it makes you queasy.

Side effects

Headache and migraine lead the list, followed by breast tenderness, nausea, mood changes, bloating and spotting between periods. Most are mild and ease over the first couple of cycles. Dydrogesterone is not made from testosterone, so acne, greasy skin and unwanted hair growth are uncommon.

Yellowing of the skin or eyes, swelling of the face or lips, a painful swollen leg, sudden breathlessness or chest pain, and a severe headache with disturbed vision need urgent treatment.

The tablets are not suited to anyone with vaginal bleeding that has not been explained, severe liver disease or an allergy to dydrogesterone itself.

Dydrogesterone or Duphaston?

Duphaston is a brand name for dydrogesterone, so both are the same medicine in the same 10mg tablet. The two listings carry the same medicine under different names. The Duphaston pack holds the same 10mg tablets in the same form, so the choice comes down to which box you would rather order.
