FAQ

Which pack sizes of Fluticasone Propionate can I order?

Fluticasone Propionate rotacaps are listed in packs of 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 capsules. Larger packs cost less per capsule.

Is the parcel for Fluticasone Propionate discreet?

Every order ships in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing on the outside about the contents. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express on a secure, encrypted payment page, or with Bitcoin or Ethereum. If a parcel does not arrive within the delivery window, or arrives damaged, it is sent again free.

How do I use fluticasone propionate rotacaps?

Put one capsule into a Rotahaler, close the device so the capsule is pierced, and breathe the powder in through your mouth. The capsules are never swallowed; powder that goes down the throat does not reach the airways where the swelling is. One capsule once or twice a day covers most people.

How long does fluticasone propionate take to work?

Not overnight, as a rule. A day is enough for some people, but two weeks or more is typical, and the benefit shows as fewer wheezy spells rather than a sudden change. A slow first week does not mean it is not working.

Can I use fluticasone propionate rotacaps during an asthma attack?

No, they are the wrong tool for it. Rotacaps calm swelling in the airways over days; a sudden attack needs a reliever inhaler, which opens them within minutes. Using the reliever more and more is a sign the daily preventer is not keeping things steady.

Do I need to rinse my mouth after using fluticasone propionate?

Rinsing with water after each dose is a simple habit that cuts down hoarseness and the white patches of oral thrush that inhaled steroids can leave in the mouth and throat. Spit the water out rather than swallowing it. It takes a few seconds and makes a difference over months of daily use.

Is fluticasone propionate the same as Flonase?

Both contain fluticasone, but they treat different places. Flonase Nasal Spray goes into the nose for hay fever and year-round rhinitis, while the rotacaps are breathed into the lungs for asthma. The nasal spray does nothing for the lungs, and the rotacaps do nothing for a blocked or itchy nose.

About Fluticasone Propionate

What fluticasone propionate rotacaps are for

Fluticasone propionate is an inhaled corticosteroid, one of the asthma medicines that calm swelling and irritation inside the airways. In asthma the breathing tubes narrow and fill with mucus, which is what produces wheezing, chest tightness, coughing and shortness of breath. Taken regularly, it keeps that swelling down so breathing stays easier. It is a preventer rather than a rescue treatment.

The capsules on this page are 50/250mcg, used through a Rotahaler device.

A capsule you breathe in, not swallowed

Each dose is a small capsule of powder. It sits inside a Rotahaler, the device pierces it, and you breathe the powder down into your lungs; swallowed whole, it does nothing for asthma. One capsule once or twice a day is the usual pattern, and doses land more reliably when they fall at the same times each morning or evening. Hoarseness and a sore throat are the usual local complaints, and the powder can leave a whitish coating of thrush in the mouth and throat.

Give it a fortnight

A few people breathe more easily the next day, but for most the full effect arrives after two weeks or more, so a flat first week is normal and not a sign the capsules are failing. This is a daily preventer and will not settle an attack in progress; a fast-acting reliever inhaler does that. Skipping doses on good days lets the swelling return.

Side effects and interactions

Headache, cough, a hoarse voice and sore throat turn up most often, and thrush in the mouth or throat is common too. Breathing that tightens straight after a dose, or a rash with swelling of the face, lips or tongue, needs urgent help. Inhaled steroids used at higher doses for months or years can thin the bones and raise the risk of cataracts (clouding of the eye's lens) and raised pressure inside the eye. Ritonavir, an HIV medicine, slows the body's handling of fluticasone and can push its levels up.

Not the same as Flonase

Flonase Nasal Spray also contains fluticasone, but it goes into the nose to treat hay fever and rhinitis (a blocked or runny nose that keeps coming back) and never reaches the lungs. Where asthma needs a second medicine, fluticasone is paired with salmeterol, a long-acting bronchodilator that holds the airways open, in a separate rotacap. For the ingredient across all of these, see the fluticasone page, and for the nasal version Flonase Nasal Spray.
