FAQ
Which Ilaxten strengths and pack sizes can I order?
Ilaxten tablets come in 20mg and 40mg strengths. Each strength is available in packs of 30 to 180 tablets. Larger packs cost less per tablet.
How can I pay for Ilaxten delivery to Hong Kong?
You can pay for Ilaxten with Visa, Mastercard or American Express on a secure, encrypted payment page, or with Bitcoin or Ethereum. Card details never reach the shop's servers. Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours if not yet dispatched.
What is another name for bilastine?
Ilaxten is a brand name of bilastine, which is also sold as Bilaford, Bilasure and Blexten. Here, bilastine can be bought online as generic Ilaxten. These are generics, not the original brand.
How long does Ilaxten take to work?
Symptoms usually begin to ease about an hour after you take the tablet, and a dose lasts roughly 24 hours. That is why a fixed daily time beats taking it only once the sneezing has started — it keeps histamine blocked on the days you meet your trigger.
Should I take Ilaxten every day, or only when symptoms flare up?
For hay fever, daily use through the weeks your trigger is about works better than reaching for a tablet now and then, because the block on histamine needs to be in place before you meet the pollen. Hives can also need regular treatment rather than the occasional dose.
Can I take Ilaxten with cetirizine or another antihistamine?
Doubling up on antihistamine tablets rarely adds anything and makes drowsiness and a dry mouth more likely. If tablets alone are not holding your symptoms, the usual additions are a steroid nasal spray for a blocked nose or antihistamine eye drops for itchy, watery eyes.
Does Ilaxten make you sleepy?
Bilastine is one of the least sedating antihistamines, so most people notice nothing at all. A minority still feel drowsy, particularly over the first few days, and it is worth seeing how you react before driving or working with machinery.
What happens if I take Ilaxten with orange juice?
Juice reduces the amount of bilastine you take up, so that day's dose may do less than usual. Do not take a second tablet to make up for it; simply have the next one at your normal time, swallowed with plain water.
About Ilaxten
What Ilaxten tablets are for
Ilaxten contains bilastine, a non-drowsy antihistamine. Histamine is the substance your body releases when it decides something in the air is a threat — pollen, house dust mites, mould spores, animal fur — and that release is what drives the sneezing, the itch and the streaming eyes. Bilastine occupies the spots histamine wants, so the reaction struggles to get going.
Two complaints are treated with it. Allergic rhinitis means an itchy, runny or congested nose with itchy, watery eyes; when pollen is behind it the usual name is hay fever, and it can also drag on all year. Urticaria is hives — raised, itchy patches that appear on the skin and fade again.
Taking your tablet
One 20mg tablet covers a full day, and it works best at a set time each morning or evening. Take it at least an hour before food, or leave two hours after eating: a stomach with food in it absorbs less of the dose. Juice is the other thing to avoid — grapefruit, orange and apple juice all cut how much bilastine gets into your bloodstream, so swallow the tablet with water.
Hay fever means taking a tablet each day through the weeks the pollen count stays high. Hives that keep coming back call for the same steady routine over a longer stretch. The strips keep best in their carton, away from sunlight.
Side effects
A headache is the thing people report most often. A few feel drowsy or dizzy, or get a dry mouth or an unsettled stomach, mostly in the first days of taking it. Real trouble is rare, but lips, tongue or throat swelling up, a fast-spreading rash or laboured breathing is an emergency.
20mg or 40mg?
Pick 20mg if you want the standard tablet: that is the once-a-day strength for anyone aged 12 or over. The 40mg tablet has double the bilastine in it. Boxes hold 30 up to 180 tablets, so a short hay fever spring and a year-round dust allergy can each be covered with a sensible pack. If bilastine is not the right fit, the rest of the range is under Allergies.
