Stiff, spastic muscles: what the tablets do
Lioresal tablets are for spasticity: muscles that stay stiff, tighten without warning or jerk, usually after multiple sclerosis or a spinal cord injury. Baclofen does not act on the muscle itself. It acts in the spinal cord, where it turns down the nerve messages that keep the muscle clenched.
When the tightness lets go, movement gets easier and the pain that comes with it often eases too. This listing is the oral tablet, in 10mg and 25mg.
Taking baclofen tablets
The tablets are swallowed with water, normally three times a day at set times through the day, not only when the muscles feel tight. Doses differ between people, and some start low and build up slowly.
