FAQ
What bottle sizes does Orahelp come in?
Orahelp is and comes in 8.5/2% bottles. You can order 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 bottles. Larger packs cost less per bottle.
How is Orahelp delivered to Hong Kong?
Orahelp bottles can go by tracked courier, which takes 5 to 9 business days and includes online tracking. Every parcel arrives in plain, unbranded packaging with nothing outside about the contents. Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours if not yet dispatched.
Can I use Orahelp under a denture?
Yes. Denture sore spots are one of the three things Orahelp is meant for. Put the gel on the tender patch, wait at least half an hour, then put the denture back in — applied just before it goes in, the gel is wiped off before it can do much.
How long does the numbness last?
It wears off on its own as saliva washes the gel off the spot, so there is no fixed figure. A small ulcer tends to lose the numbness sooner than a broad sore. That is also why reapplying more often than every three hours does not help.
Can children use Orahelp?
Orahelp is intended for adults and children aged 16 and over. Younger children swallow more of anything that goes into the mouth, and gels of this type are not used in that age group.
Can I use Orahelp with other numbing gels or lozenges?
Better to use one at a time. A numbing lozenge, spray or teething gel taken alongside Orahelp adds to the amount of anaesthetic going into the mouth, so one product at a time is plenty.
Can I eat straight after using Orahelp?
Wait until the numb feeling has gone, especially before hot food and drinks. You could bite your cheek or tongue without noticing, and chewing also shifts the gel off the sore before it has had time to work.
About Orahelp
A gel for mouth ulcers, sore gums and denture spots
Orahelp is an oral gel in a bottle, supplied at one strength: 8.5/2%. You dab it on a sore spot inside the mouth and the pain eases for a while. Three uses come up again and again — mouth ulcers, sore gums, and the raw patches that dentures and other dental appliances rub up. It suits short spells of use, while a sore settles, rather than months of daily application.
How choline salicylate and lignocaine work together
Two ingredients, two jobs. Choline salicylate at 8.5% is a salicylate that calms inflammation in the tissue it touches. Lignocaine at 2% is a local anaesthetic: it stops the nerve endings in the lining of the mouth from carrying pain signals, so the area goes numb. Together they dull the ache and take some of the heat out of a swollen gum or ulcer. The effect stays where you put it and fades as saliva washes the gel away.
How to use Orahelp
Squeeze roughly half an inch of gel onto a clean finger and work it into the sore area. Adults and children aged 16 and over can repeat this no more than once every three hours. For a denture sore spot, put the gel on and leave at least 30 minutes before the denture goes back in. If you already use another numbing preparation in the mouth, stacking a second one on top is not wise.
Stinging, numbness and signs to take seriously
A brief tingle or sting as it goes on is common. The numb patch often feels wider than the spot you aimed at, because saliva carries a little gel around the mouth. Reactions to the anaesthetic are rare but can be serious: swelling of the tongue or throat, a rash, or difficulty breathing needs urgent treatment. Anyone who has reacted badly to lignocaine or another amide anaesthetic before should leave this gel alone.
Strength, form and storage
Orahelp comes as an 8.5/2% gel in a bottle. Screw the cap back on after each use and keep it somewhere cool, out of direct sun. Mouth ulcers usually close over within a week or two; a sore that is still there after three weeks is a different problem from an ordinary ulcer.
