FAQ
What Pamelor 25mg pack sizes can I order?
Pamelor comes as 25mg capsules in packs of 30 to 360. It is generic nortriptyline, not the original Pamelor. Larger packs cost less per capsule.
How can I cancel or track a Pamelor order to Hong Kong?
You can cancel a Pamelor order within 24 hours if it has not yet been dispatched. Track your order on the tracking page, and support answers 24/7 in English and Cantonese by live chat. Orders over 120 units may be split into several parcels.
What is another name for nortriptyline?
Pamelor and Aventyl are brand names of nortriptyline, which is also sold as Allegron. Here, nortriptyline can be bought online as generic Pamelor, and also as nortriptyline capsules. These are generics, not the original brand.
How long does Pamelor take to work?
Expect a few weeks. Energy, sleep and appetite may shift in the first ten days or so, while mood is slower to respond and can keep improving for some time. Capsules taken daily, not just on low days, are what builds the effect.
Can I drink alcohol with Pamelor?
Alcohol adds to the drowsiness and dizziness nortriptyline causes, so it is best kept to a minimum. Even one or two drinks can leave you feeling foggy the next morning, and a heavy night makes the sedative effect much stronger.
Is Pamelor the same as generic nortriptyline?
Yes. Pamelor is a brand name for nortriptyline, and the capsules sold here are generic nortriptyline 25mg, the same active ingredient at the same strength. The brand name and the inactive ingredients in the capsule can differ.
Can I take Pamelor with antihistamines?
Many hay fever and sleep-aid antihistamines dry you out and slow the bowel in the same way nortriptyline does, so taking both can leave you with a very dry mouth, constipation and difficulty passing urine. Newer antihistamines such as loratadine and cetirizine cause less of this than the older sedating types.
About Pamelor
What Pamelor 25mg capsules are for
Depression is the reason most people look for Pamelor: low mood and lost interest, with sleep and appetite thrown off, lasting weeks rather than days. The capsules hold 25mg of nortriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant, one of the older groups of antidepressants and still widely used. At lower amounts it is also taken for nerve pain, such as the burning or stabbing kind that can follow shingles. Nortriptyline leaves more noradrenaline and serotonin available to nerve cells in the brain, and that change builds slowly.
How and when to take it
Swallow a capsule with water, at roughly the same point in the day, every day. Some people take a single daily dose and others split it into two or three. Breakfast or an empty stomach makes little difference to how it is absorbed, and the dose is built up gradually from a low start, so the number of capsules can change over the first few weeks. Stopping suddenly is not a good idea — headache, nausea and weakness can follow, so the dose is usually stepped down instead. Keep the pack somewhere cool and out of the sun.
Side effects
Dry mouth, drowsiness, blurred vision, constipation and dizziness are the ones people notice first, and they often settle after a week or two. Sipping water through the day and adding fibre to meals helps with the dry mouth and the constipation. Drowsiness tends to be worst at the start; some people find an evening dose suits them better than a morning one.
A fast, fluttering or irregular heartbeat, fainting, or a sudden bout of confusion needs urgent attention, as does swelling of the lips, tongue or throat or a rash with breathing trouble. So do thoughts of harming yourself that appear or get worse after starting — these can show up early, or after a change in dose.
Alcohol, antihistamines and other medicines
Alcohol deepens the drowsiness and dizziness, so keep drinking light. Nortriptyline must not be taken with an MAOI (an older class of antidepressant) — the pair can push blood pressure dangerously high. Sleeping tablets, opioid painkillers, other antidepressants and many antihistamines add to the effects nortriptyline already has, leaving you drier in the mouth, more constipated and more likely to have trouble passing urine.
