FAQ

Which Tinidazole pack sizes can I order?

Tinidazole 500mg tablets come in packs of 60, 90, 120 or 180. Larger packs cost less per tablet.

What happens if a Tinidazole parcel goes missing in Hong Kong?

If your Tinidazole parcel does not arrive within the delivery window, or reaches you damaged, it is sent again free, and where that is not possible the order is refunded. Every order ships in plain, unbranded packaging. Tracked courier takes 5 to 9 business days.

Which brand names does tinidazole have?

Brand names for tinidazole include Fasigyn, Tindamax and Tiniba. Tinidazole tablets are a pure generic tinidazole product and are not any of those brands.

Is tinidazole a single-dose treatment?

It can be. Some infections clear with one dose, while others need one dose a day for two to five days. How much goes into that single dose, and how long the course runs, depends on the infection being treated.

Can I drink alcohol with tinidazole?

No. Alcohol is out from the first tablet until three days after the last one. Drinking in that window can cause flushing, sweating, headache, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting. Mouthwashes, cough liquids and other products containing alcohol or propylene glycol can set off the same reaction.

How does tinidazole differ from metronidazole?

Both are nitroimidazole antimicrobials and work in the same way, but they are separate drugs. Tinidazole stays in the body longer, which is why some infections can be cleared with a single dose instead of several days of tablets.

Does tinidazole leave a metallic taste?

A sharp, unpleasant metallic taste is one of the effects people notice most while taking it. Nausea, poor appetite and stomach cramps often come with it, and the taste fades once the course ends.

Does tinidazole come as a liquid?

In some countries it is made as an oral suspension, a liquid that has to be shaken well before each dose. The version on this page is the 500mg tablet.

About Tinidazole

What tinidazole tablets treat

Tinidazole belongs to the nitroimidazole group of antimicrobials, and it is aimed at two kinds of organism: single-celled parasites, and anaerobic bacteria, which live without oxygen. The infections it covers are few and fairly specific. Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection that often brings vaginal discharge, itching or pain on passing urine. Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of harmful bacteria in the vagina. Giardiasis is a gut infection with diarrhoea, gas and cramps, and amoebiasis infects the intestine and sometimes spreads to the liver. Once inside the organism, the drug is converted into compounds that damage its DNA, and it can no longer multiply.

Taking the tablets

Swallow them with food. Some infections are treated with a single dose; others need one dose a day for two to five days, taken at about the same time each day. Whichever schedule your course follows, finish it. If the discharge or cramps ease after the first day and you stop early, the infection may not clear completely and the organisms become harder to treat next time.

Alcohol, taste and other effects

Alcohol is the main thing to plan around. A drink during the course, or in the three days after the last tablet, can bring on flushing, sweating, headache, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting. Alcohol and propylene glycol turn up in other products too, such as some mouthwashes and cough liquids. The effects people notice most are a sharp metallic taste, nausea, loss of appetite, constipation, stomach pain, headache, tiredness, dizziness and a thick white vaginal discharge. They are rarely serious. Seizures and numbness or tingling in the hands or feet are uncommon but need urgent treatment, and so do hives, hoarseness, trouble breathing or swallowing, or swelling around the face, throat or tongue.

Storing the tablets

Keep them in the container they came in, closed, in a cool dry spot out of children's reach.
