Pulmonary arterial hypertension means raised pressure in the small arteries of the lungs, and anyone living with it tends to run out of breath on stairs, feel faint and tire early. Assurans is a 20mg sildenafil tablet made for that job: it loosens the muscle in the lung vessel walls so the heart has less to push against, and walking or climbing gets easier.
It blocks PDE5, an enzyme that normally clears away the nitric oxide signal which widens blood vessels. With that signal lasting longer, blood flow improves, in the lungs and in the penis when there is sexual stimulation. Sildenafil is also the ingredient behind the erectile dysfunction tablets sold here at higher strengths, among them Cenforce, Kamagra and Fildena.
Taking Assurans
For pulmonary arterial hypertension, the 20mg tablet is taken three times a day, spaced through the day, and mealtimes make no difference. For erectile dysfunction, sildenafil is taken when needed: about an hour before sex is the usual timing, anything from 30 minutes to 4 hours beforehand works, and no more than one dose in 24 hours. A heavy, fatty meal can slow the tablet down. Keep the strips somewhere cool and dry.
Side effects to expect
Headache, flushing, a stuffy or runny nose, indigestion and dizziness are the common ones, and they usually ease as the body adjusts. Some men notice colours looking different or slightly blurred vision, and sudden loss of vision needs urgent attention. An erection lasting more than four hours needs urgent treatment.
What not to take with Assurans
Nitrates (glyceryl trinitrate, isosorbide dinitrate or mononitrate) and amyl nitrite poppers cause a sharp fall in blood pressure when combined with sildenafil, so they must never be taken together. Heavy drinking raises the chance of headache, dizziness, a racing heartbeat and low blood pressure.
