FAQ
What pack sizes does Finpecia 1mg come in?
Finpecia comes as 1mg tablets in packs of 60, 90 or 120. Larger packs cost less per tablet.
How can I pay for Finpecia and what if I change my mind?
You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express on a secure, encrypted payment page, or with Bitcoin or Ethereum. Card details never reach the shop's servers. You can cancel within 24 hours if your order has not yet been dispatched.
What is another name for finasteride?
Finpecia is a branded generic of finasteride, the ingredient in Propecia and Proscar. Finasteride is also sold as Finast and Finax. Here, finasteride can be bought online as Finpecia, and also as Fincar, generic Propecia, generic Proscar and finasteride tablets. These are generics, not the original brand.
What happens if I stop taking Finpecia?
Stop the tablets and the pattern of loss returns: hair kept while taking them is usually gone within a year of the last dose. Finasteride holds the loss in check rather than curing the underlying cause, so the improvement lasts only while you keep taking it.
Is Finpecia the same as Propecia?
Both are finasteride 1mg tablets for hair loss, so the medicine inside is the same. They are sold under separate brand names, which is why the pack and the tablet look unlike each other. Propecia also comes in a 5mg strength, the one used for an enlarged prostate.
What is the difference between 1mg and 5mg finasteride?
Finpecia is the 1mg tablet. The 5mg tablets, sold as Fincar and Proscar, treat an enlarged prostate, where the gland grows and presses on the bladder. Both strengths contain the same medicine and are taken once a day.
Can I drink alcohol with Finpecia?
Finasteride is not known to interact with alcohol, so a drink now and then is unlikely to change how the tablet works. There is no need to avoid alcohol while you take Finpecia.
About Finpecia
Finpecia 1mg tablets for hair loss
Finpecia is a 1mg finasteride tablet sold to men for male pattern baldness: the hairline that creeps back and the crown that thins, usually in families. A hormone drives that kind of loss and finasteride lowers the hormone, so the tablet slows the loss instead of hiding it. Women who are pregnant, or could be, should not handle tablets that are broken or crushed.
How finasteride slows hair loss
Finasteride belongs to the 5-alpha reductase inhibitor group. It cuts the amount of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the stronger hormone made from testosterone that makes scalp follicles shrink and stop producing hair. Less DHT means follicles keep hair for longer and shedding settles down.
Patience is part of the deal. Around three months in, men may see less hair in the shower drain, and any thickening tends to appear between six and twelve months. A full year of daily tablets with no change at all suggests carrying on is unlikely to help.
The routine is one tablet a day, swallowed whole whenever suits you, with or without a meal. It is open-ended: the effect lasts only while the tablets are taken, and hair they saved is usually lost again within a year of the last one.
Side effects men notice
A drop in sex drive, trouble with erections, less semen when you ejaculate and aching testicles are the ones men ask about; some ease off over time. Uncommon effects include breast changes — a lump, swelling, tenderness or discharge from a nipple — and depression that gets worse, including thoughts of harming yourself. Both need prompt attention. Swelling of the face or lips, a spreading rash, or difficulty breathing or swallowing after a tablet is an emergency. Finasteride can also lower a man's fertility while he takes it.
Finpecia and the other finasteride tablets
The same 1mg tablet is sold under the ingredient's own name as Finasteride, and Propecia comes in 1mg and 5mg strengths. The 5mg tablets, Fincar and Proscar, are used for an enlarged prostate, a benign growth of the gland. All of them contain the same active ingredient; the name on the pack and the strength of the tablet are what change. The finasteride page runs through every strength and what it is for.
