FAQ
What pack sizes does Tizanidine 2mg come in?
Tizanidine tablets come in 2mg, in packs of 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 or 360 tablets. It is generic tizanidine, not a branded product. Larger packs cost less per tablet.
How can I pay for Tizanidine delivered to Hong Kong?
By card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) on an encrypted page that keeps your card details off our servers, or with Bitcoin or Ethereum. The parcel is plain and unbranded, and one that misses the delivery window is sent again free.
Which brand names does tizanidine have?
Brand names for tizanidine include Zanaflex, Sirdalud and Tizan. Tizanidine tablets are a pure generic tizanidine product and are not any of those brands.
How long does tizanidine 2mg last?
It is a short-acting muscle relaxant, so a dose wears off within a few hours. That is why it is usually spaced six to eight hours apart, up to three times a day, rather than taken once in the morning to cover the whole day.
Can I drink alcohol with tizanidine?
Alcohol and tizanidine both slow the nervous system, so together they bring stronger drowsiness, more dizziness and a bigger drop in blood pressure. The effect shows up with a single drink, and it makes fainting when you stand more likely.
Should tizanidine be taken with food?
It can be taken either way. What matters is consistency: a meal changes how much of the dose reaches the blood, so the same tablet can feel stronger after food than before it. Choose with food or without, and keep to that.
Is tizanidine the same as baclofen?
No. They are two different muscle relaxants. Baclofen is its own ingredient with its own strengths and dosing schedule, and it acts on the nervous system by another route than tizanidine does.
Does tizanidine help back pain?
Partly. It loosens the tight, braced muscle that often sits behind a sore back or neck, and that can take the edge off the ache. The cause of the pain is untouched, and nerve pain such as sciatica falls outside its use.
About Tizanidine
What tizanidine tablets are for
Tizanidine eases muscle spasms, cramping and tightness. Most of its use is in long-running conditions — multiple sclerosis, or a spinal injury — where muscles stay braced and make moving around awkward. It belongs to the skeletal muscle relaxants, and it works on the nervous system rather than on the muscle itself: it slows the signals from the brain and spinal cord that keep muscles switched on, so they can let go. Sleepiness or a sense of calm often comes with that, especially at first.
The stiffness it is used for, spasticity, means muscles tighten on their own and resist movement. Tizanidine is not a painkiller, but loosening a spasming back or neck can ease the ache that comes with it.
How to take it
Doses usually start low and build up, and the tablets are taken every six to eight hours, no more than three times in a day. Food changes how much of the dose reaches your bloodstream, so keep to one habit — always with a meal or always without one — rather than mixing the two. Tablets and capsules release the medicine differently, so a switch between the two changes the effect.
Side effects
Sleepiness, dizziness, a dry mouth, unusual tiredness or weakness, nervousness, constipation and vomiting are the ones people report most. Dizziness when you stand up is common in the first few days; getting up in stages, sitting for a moment before you walk, helps. Muscle tone drops as well, so balance can feel less certain.
Liver problems are rare but serious: yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, pain under the right ribs, and loss of appetite with flu-like symptoms. A rash with swelling of the face, lips or throat needs urgent treatment.
Alcohol and other medicines
Alcohol deepens the drowsiness and adds to the fall in blood pressure. Cimetidine and famotidine, the heartburn medicines, push tizanidine levels up, and so do the antidepressant fluvoxamine and the antibiotics ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin. Blood pressure tablets stack with its own blood-pressure-lowering effect. Coming off tizanidine abruptly can leave you with a racing heart, higher blood pressure and returning tightness, so the dose is stepped down rather than stopped.
Storage and pack sizes
Keep the tablets somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight, and leave them in their blister strips. Packs hold 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 or 360 tablets of 2mg, so a repeat order can be sized to how long you expect to be taking it.
